Friday Favorites, vol. 51

1. wild flowers

2. cross timbers
By far the most beautiful cross timbers I've ever seen are in Germany. The ones in France aren't bad, either. As a certified Francophile, I normally think everything in France is superior, but not in this case. Germans have the French beat when it comes to beer, sausage, and cross timbers.

3. fabric napkins

4. floppy hats

5. lens flares

We're baking for Japan.

Well, technically we aren't.

But lots of wonderful Austinites, including 50 local food bloggers and my good friend Stacy are baking up a storm for a city-wide bakesale this Saturday, organized by my lovely friend Kathryn that will help aid relief efforts in Japan. You can come out and show your support at any one of the locations all around Austin this Saturday, April 2, from 10- 2. Nathan and I are proud to announce that we've partnered with Austin Bakes for Japan and we'll be photographing the delicious, charitable event at Foreign & Domestic and the shops at Mira Vista on Saturday. We hope to see you there!

Visit the Austin Bakes for Japan blog for more details.

BONUS:
So Stacy is kind of famous for her rhubarb pie. She just baked one this past Sunday for a potluck, and rumor has it, she's making another one that will be on sale this Saturday. It could be all yours, and in return, your donation will go to Americares. What could be better?
